The latest ASIC Insolvency statistics have revealed the April 2013 number, 941 corporate insolvency appointments, as the highest April number on record.
This Australia wide total was a significant increase over the previous record of 869 (8.3%) set in April 2012. It is also a huge 20% increase over the average of the previous 5 Aprils. These results have bucked the recent trend of slowing insolvency numbers. It should be noted that April 2013 is only the second month out of the last six that have shown an increase in insolvencies when compared to the corresponding month in the previous year.
Breaking the statistics down into respective states or insolvency types reveal no major insights, all of these numbers increased in line with recent averages.
